When the nurse was removing the plastic clip thing off of my sons umbilical cord I thought that was weird...I have heard of moms keeping their kids umbilical cord stump...To me that is weird. How would you like to see your stump when your 25? ick...I don't judge those who do, I personally would not keep it..

Normal. Lots of Moms put them into a baby book.

It's a little weird, but some people do it.

My son lost his cord, the pediatrician asked me if I kept it and I had to tell her I didn't even know for sure where it was (it was in the laundry basket).

That's nothing! My mom has ALL of my baby teeth (and my sister's), my hair from my first haircut, my first band-aid, my first nail trimming, and my umbilical stump (of course).

She was horrified when I let the doctors throw away my son's foreskin !!

I don't know how "normal" it is but I will tell you that I kept it with BOTH my kids!

It's normal, they also tend to keep your teeth and hair from your first haircut.

I personally didn't with either of my children, it makes me feel sick thinking of it, although I know it once was a beautiful thing.
A friend of mine does keep her kids, though, and she is perfectly normal.
