I just watched tears of the sun and i noticed that when americans make movies about africans, they seem to cast the darkest people they can find. there are many different shades of africans, but in this movie all the africans were as dark as possible, anyone else notice this?

i'm not racist i'm african. that picture is not of me. i'm saying why do they choose to only show dark africans when there are many shades of black in africa

tears of the sun was filmed in nigeria, and i know that most of the people are not dark like that cuz i 've been there.

that is true people think that africans are all dark skin which is not true they come in all shades and some africans are white also.

well, I know African-American's, come in lighter shades due to the mixing of races. I always want to see an African American like myself, one who has lighter skin, with a different hair color r eye color, besides brown or black~
I guess they have to make the lines clear instead of having some exotic "anomily" blurring the lines of what's African American. As far as on the continent of Africa, I never saw an African my shade or even close but I do know they come in different browns.

It depends what area in Africa the movie is set at. Some parts like the Sudan, people have naturally very dark skin. So I don't know :)

it depends on what part of africa they are filming in....thats where they get most of the actors...
