Maybe you can work one out using the idea in that story about two guys riding on a train and looking to pass the time.
One said "I bet you ten bucks I can ask you a question you can't answer and then you can bet me ten bucks you can ask me a question I can't answer." The second guy said "But I don't want to risk that much money. How about a bet for one dollar?" The first guy thought about it and said " I really want to try this so I will give you ten dollars if I stump you and you need only give me one dollar if you stump me?" The second guy said "OK but I want to ask first." The first guy agreed and the second guy said "What animal has ears like a squirrel, a tail like a monkey, purrs like a cat, and has horns on its head?" The first guy thought and said "I am not sure but give me a few more minutes to think." The second guy agreed and the first guy thought but finally gave up and handed the first guy ten dollars. Then the second guy said "Well what animal is that?" The first guy said "I don't know" and handed over one dollar.

Three men check into a motel. The room costs $30. After paying and going to their room, the desk clerk discovers the room should have only cost $25. She sends the doorman up to the room with 5 one dollar bills to return to the three men. The doorman pockets two of the dollars and returns the three men $1 each. Now each man has paid $9. $9 times 3 men is $27, and the doorman has $2, making $29. What happened to the other dollar?
