GREAT QUESTION !
I was at work on a military base. They closed the base and escorted the civilians off. (Can't reveal any more than that)
That day is burned into my memory forever !
To this day I still have trouble watching scenes of the twin towers collapsing. It saddens me deeply thinking about the horror the people in those buildings must have experienced. We should NEVER, EVER forget them !

It was a very surreal day. I was in the shower and had the radio on when I heard the news about the first tower. At first I thought 'what a horrible accident'...when I got out of the shower I went to the television and watched the 2nd plane hit the other tower. I thought it was a replay of what had happened, and then realized there was already smoke coming from the first tower...I lived with my mom at the time and told her this can't be an accident...no way...got the news about the Pentagon on the way to work...it was so bizarre...hearing horrible news like that when the weather was so beautiful that day...I remember everyone was actually nice to each other on the road and people treated each other really well. I wish it could be that way all the time. I was very numb for a long time...I couldn't cry about it...I think I had a delayed reaction to it because now whenever I see footage of the towers (even before they were hit)...I get very sad and usually cry.
My story is probably more uneventful than others you'll read here, but as long as we always remember what happened, I guess that's the most important thing.

I was in 8th grade and during a change of class I overheard two girls talking that a plane hit some building in New York City. I pictured a small crop-duster like plane, not a huge passenger airplane. When we got to English, the teacher put on the news to let us watch... The principal came around and was taking away the TVs... Later on in the day, a teacher let us listen to the radio real low... They kept the whole school in a bubble for fear of people freaking out. I understand why they did that, seeing as it was a building that had K-5 on the first two floors and 6-8 on the 3rd, but I think that we were old enough to know what was going on in the 8th grade. You know what's weird? Think about this: There are kids, possibly teens, who cannot remember 9/11. I remember the Oklahoma City bombing and I'm only 20!

I was filling out an application for a part time job setting in my truck when I heard it on the radio but didn't think much about it until I came home and turned on TV. I couldn't believe it when I saw the second plane hit the other tower. Your teacher was right about saying that the world won't be the same anymore.

I used to work overnights at a Barnes and Noble, so I was sleeping when all this happened. I remembered getting a call at around noon. It was my boss telling me that we were not working. I asked him why, he told me to turn on the TV. When I did, I was terrified at what I was seeing. The crazy thing is that I was in New York that weekend visiting a friend. I came home to Boston on Monday the 10th. Coming home, the last thing about New York I remember was seeing those two huge buildings towering over everything. Who knew that at the same time the next day, they would be gone.

I remember that moment perfectly I was in high school in Mr. Stiglebauer's Econ class he was hot for an older guy but anyways as we were walking into the class room he had the tv on CNN I think and we were watching in horror as we saw the planes crash into the world trade center. Nobody could believe it was happening. After that I watched the news for three days every chance I got. That was back when I didnt hate the media so much.

I was in school at The time, but my school tried to keep it "hush hush" They thought we shouldn't know about it UNTIL we got home. but half way threw my 8th grade history class (around about 12:30 maybe 12:45) the teacher turned on the news and told the class that the administrator didn't think we had the right to know but "I am tired of lying to you all. This is a history class and this will go down in history. " She was fired 2 weeks later.

I was getting ready to go to work at my new job when I got the shocking phone call from my mother. I immediately turned on the TV just before the plane plowed into the other tower. I was in utter disbelief! Needless to say that I didn't get trained too long that day. I went home early and watched the whole footage on TV. I will never forget that day.

i was in third grade. at lunch they made an announcement there was an emergency in washington and we all had to go home. the first thing i thought was someone killed the president, the second thing was worrying about my brother (who was in first grade at the time). i remember getting home and seeing my mom crying (she never, ever cried), sitting on the couch and sobbing that "they crashed a plane into the pentagon and the world trade centers in New York" and i didn't know what the pentagon was. i remember seing picture s of the news and rubble and writing a poem about it:
September Eleventh, Two Thousand One.
Some bad men boarded a plane
when the planes crashed into the towers
the World Trade Center fell in pain.

I was in my 2nd grade class room. We were on a military base so we got to go home and miss 2 days of school. Of the 2 days, I spent my time decorating our sidewalk with a picture of a plane flying into the twin towers. When we arrived at school again nothing was the same.
