You don't even have to ask your doctor. If there was something wrong with your womb, they would have let you know already, especially assuming they know about your missed miscarriage. Relax and wait for your baby - you will need all your worrying strength once s/he arrives!

I think it's perfectly normal to have those fears! You do not sound dumb at all! I had an early miscarriage before this pregnancy and I get scared a lot because of it! However, I know that what your uterus had to do during the miscarriage and what it has to do now is 2 totally different things! I'm sure that since your pregnancy has been successful thus far that your body will do exactly as it needs to.... Exactly when it needs to! Visualize yourself giving birth and having a healthy and normal delivery (just be careful not to start visualizing to soon)! I'm sure all will be well! You have absolutely NOTHING to be embarrassed about! Express your worries to your doctor or call and speak with his/her nurse! I'm sure they won't mind answering your questions!
Very Best Wishes!

I think you should discuss your concern with your doctor even if only to address your own fear. I would guess that your hormone levels did not drop with the miscarriage and therefore your body did not know to expel the baby. I have had four children in less than seven years time. Every pregnancy has concerns and fears. The closer to the birth the more irrational the concerns seem to be. Don't feel dumb. You are just scared. The baby's position during the later stages of pregnancy along with hormones that your body produces (oxytocin) cause the cervix to dilate. If you don't start dilating on your own, your doctor will likely induce you with pitocin (a synthetic form of oxytocin). This will cause your uterus to contract and bring the baby down into position to be birthed. Feel free to ask me any other questions. I would talk to my doctor because they have heard it all.

While that may be a possibility, I have never heard of it before. The good news is, even if there is something like that going on, there are ways of getting around it. Worse case scenario, you will have to have a c-section. While it is still a major abdominal surgery, about 30% of babies born last year were delivered through c-section. I think if you are concerned, you should ask your doctor without feeling embarrassed. It's your body, and your baby, and you have every right to ask a question.

That is not a stupid question. It is a very serious one. Most likely since your doctor already knows that your body will not be able to give birth on its own, he or she will recommend a c-section. Obviously you have been able to carry to full term so I wouldn't worry too much about being able to have any more children. A miscarry is sad and brings a lot of questions to mind like "whats wrong with me", but it is unfortunately very common (I've had three and I have three healthy children). I think you should discuss your concerns with your doctor and not freak out too much about the way you give birth (I had three c-sections). As long as the baby comes out healthy, that's all that matters. Good luck

As long as there is a heartbeat be calm about this. They will measure your weeks and make sure that if you are not progressing like you should that they will either induce your labor or do a c-section.
I really believe that our bodies are thinking different things with the 1st trimester compared with the 3rd. One there is not supposed to be an opening up ( in the first) and in the 3rd then yes you are supposted to.
So I wish you the best of luck but no fear the Dr's watch for that in everyone! :)

I do not believe it is a possibility, Im sure your womb will open when it is time. Dont worry too much, the doctor could do a cesarean if necessary. Your body was probably going to reabsorb the baby when you miscarried. It sounds like you are doing fine.

Never be embarrased to ask a dr. something. I can't tell you how many times I ran to the emergency room. Since you are 38 weeks, you baby is viable to live outside your womb. Moms always get nervouse around the time to deliver. You'll be fine. If you feel something is right, simply call your OB and he or she will be happy to answer your question. Relax, thats the most important thing. :)

Dont worry. With my first pregnancy (i'm currently pregnant with my 2nd) I stopped dilatiting at 6cm. So I had me an epidural..did wonder's i relaxed and the baby came out beautiful and healthy. If that doesnt work they will perform a C-section. Either way with or without drugs the baby has to come out even in a stillbirth...which sadly my mom experienced at 6mos pregnant.

Go and see your doctor and ask your question. Answering your questions is one of the most important things they can do. I am sure your doctor has answered thousands of questions through the years. Let the doctor do any worrying that needs to be done.
Good Luck!
