Don't you have to work your way up or something?
You would have to start at the age of 18 as a pre-loader during the early hours of the morning and then work your way up from there, I think.
There is no way you can just become a driver overnight, I can assure you!
Why don't you contact UPS directly and find out for yourself buddy?

Hi, me again. As far as the age, I coukd only guess. But be advised that in order to be a UPS driver he had to work in the warehouse in the middle of the night for like two and a half years. BUT he made like $13 an hour in the warehouse. Drivers make $23-25 an hour and another great thing about UPS is you get pretty darn good insurance.

Old enough to be able to sit on the driver's seat, reach the dashboard and look out the windscreen, I would imagine, lol!
No seriously, I would say at least 18 but I'm sure you have to work you way up from loading quite a few trucks before hitting the road, know what I mean buddy?
Good luck to you though!

You have to be 21 to drive a truck around the city. 23 years and 6 months to drive a tractor trailer as a dedicated driver or a LTL (less than truckload) driver.

Its 25 to 28,,,,and insureable.....thru ups.....
They go by your current driving record,,,,and you have to agree to be finger-printed.
I know this because my husband has been hauling mail for 20 years and he had to be finger-printed, and show proof of insurance, and supply the Employer a copy of his drivers record. which there is usually a 5.00 fee for. It varies from state to state. They also wear uniforms...and I think you cannot have facial hair... maybe a mustach,,,,but thats it.
My husband works for a private contractor, who hauls mail. Its a job he's been doing for a long time. He usually trains all the new people, and trains all the relief drivers.

It used to be 23 (due to insurance purposes). I started as a night loader when I was 19, and they made me wait until then. But that was a while ago and may vary state to state, so check with the Personnel or Human Resources dept. at your local UPS office. The job does pay pretty good, and I would wish you luck, but the company sucked, and I have a bad knee, back, and shoulder to show for it. They chew you up and spit you out.

Everything is done by seniority in UPS, if you want to be a driver you will have to wait, you will start at the bottom, it's like UPS boot-camp son. You get the best pay so trust me it's worth it. you even get discounts on stocks for being a UPS employee.

In the COMPUTER Hardware category, we do not drive the UPS. We just plug it to the AC mains.
