Ok my cat bit me about 4 days ago and I didn't go to the doctor b/c each day my hand seemed to be getting better, like the redness on my hand went away, the swelling is just starting to go down and it doesn't hurt as much. One of the puncture wounds is at the bottom of my knuckle and it looks infected and all around that area like on my knuckle and part of my hand is bruised. Is this normal, is it healing?

Also the bruise is like a yellow color so is it a bruise or some other indication of infection?

Hey we have the same avatar :)
As a longtime kitty owner, I sympathize. Cat bites are painful and can easily become infected but this works for me.
Try to open up the infected-looking wound. (It's important to keep a bite wound open so that it doesn't heal over the bacteria.) Then soak it at least twice a day in hot water with Epsom salts in it. After soaking it, generously apply Neosporin to the wound and cover it with a bandaid.
If you don't see any results in a couple of day though Hon, best to see your doctor about getting some antibiotics---and good luck to you!

I actually just went through this, except in the leg. And it's still bruised 2 weeks later. Number one, I had to get a tetanus shot; which you might be due for if you haven't had one in a while. Also, I was told that hand wounds can get infected easier, in fact one man almost lost his hands when they both got attacked. Just to be on the safe side I would see your doctor to rule out infection. =)

Did the cat break the skin? I've been bit by my cats alot, scratched and the scratch got red and puffy around it. But I didn't go to the doctor. I mean it doesn't sound like its that big of a problem, But I guess if you have any drainage, or alot of pain, or even if it becomes red and swollen get it checked out. i'm not surprised about the bruise so I wouldn't worry about that.

Most people dont know this but cat bites are VERY serious. My neighbir git bit by his cat and didnt think it was a big deal. It was healing and just like like a cut, then a few days later it started turning people and the skin was starting to peel off. We took him to the ER and he had to get some shots in his hand and meds to take. CAT BITES ARE SERIOUS. Go to your dr ASAP or to the ER. Good Luck

It could be infected. Add some neurosporin and cover. Keep an eye on it if it doesn't get better in a few days go see your doctor.
Never leave an open wound uncover and always add medication to it.

I have had many bites from my cats, so I understand how you feel. If you think this is starting to get infected you should see a doctor. The mouth of a cat has a lot of bacteria.

It sounds like the wound became infected. You should see a doctor to get antibiotics so the infection doesn't spread any further.

It sounds like you're healing but give your doctor's office a call for direction. Ever hear of cat scratch fever? I hope that everything is OK.

Have you developed any special cat skills?

Can you jump 5 times your height without even getting a running start?

Can you fall from the top of a tree, land on your feet and walk away unharmed?

Do you have an unusal fascination with small rodents and balls of yarn?
