I have a small garden box that is 10' x 10', would it be a bad idea to plant summer, cucumbers, etc. in this size of garden?

That would work, but it would take up most of the garden.

Don't forget tomatoes!

Hey Ryan, I've done this & will be doing it again this summer. Yes, squash (I plant pie pumpkins, cucumbers, zucchini and this summer may add watermelon as well) in a raised garden such as mine will spread so keep an eye on them. Cages are great. You will need atleast a couple hills of both with 2 or 3 plants in each hill. I have read something about male & female squash plants. You need both to bear produce.... and no! I can't tell them apart! lol
Keep the hills 4 or 5 feet apart. Some of these plants will be quite prolific!
American natives used to plant the 'three sisters' together. This was squash, beans & corn all in the same hill. I understand that they can benefit from each other. This year I am considering trying that. Gardening should be fun, so I am open to some experimentation!
Enjoy!

I had this same subject with my squash backyard final year. The little squashes might get approximately 3 inches long, sit down on the plant like that for a pair weeks, then start to rot. It did not do me any solid to %. off the 1st ones, the two. each of those that got here after have been tiny, besides. I spoke to an ag consultant approximately this and he recommended me that my soil substitute into certainly adverse in something. He stated bringing in a soil pattern, which regrettably I never did. Your soil desires amending. Take a pattern to your community county agent, enable them to understand what you're transforming into, ask for advice.

Yes you can plant squash in a small garden. I plant all my vine plants in cages made from masonry mesh that has 6"x6" squares in it. The cages save so much space and make it possible to grow these types of plants.

If you only planted one or two squash plants, you should be fine, but the leaves on those suckers get huge and take up a lot of room!

Yes, but give it some room to spread out because it grows sort of like a vine. bettyk

Just build some kind of structure for them to climb up, get little stretchy plastic ties to tie them to it? Maybe a teepee shaped structure? Have fun!
