I asked this questiona few times. I guess its too hard to just kill ureself. A habit of living....
Perhaps if we changed our view on life /our programming. Like if we stopped identifying with ourselves...body, mind thoughts or whatever.....
And realised there is no real self.
We're everytzhing and the body/ mind is just a way of contemplating it (us)...
Check out my question for another view...

Everyone comes up against this question at some time in their lives...

My Mom, who is old and frail, used to live for her family and her husband, but now with most everyone gone, she lives for Dark Chocolate...

I would have to say I continue living for what life offers. As you say, we are all going to die anyway, so why hurry the inevitable? Thus one finds life is either sour, sweet, or bittersweet in all its trials or all its glory - the smell of flowers, the forces of nature, the change of seasons and the constant renewal of life and all that happens all around you everyday. Of course it may take a certain mental aspect or perspectivism to stop and see these things, to pull in the unverse with all your senses and realize the beauty of it all. Those moments when they happen are precious and few... but an enlightened individual will perhaps find these moments more often. ( I'm still trying to.)

Yes, there is horror and misery in the world, but you can be a caring individual without being dragged into a horrible and miserable outlook. The possibility of friendship and love make personal encounters possible and acceptable - not everyone is going to agree but an enlightened individual will at least allow for various veiwpoints not his/her own, and actually appreciate this in others.

The possibilities that life permit make it a worthwhile project - though we may not all get to the point where we become enlightened enough to appreciate all that life is, we can at least be open to the path where life might lead, and live each day in appreciation of the chance to follow our dreams, where ever they might lead...

Every person on this earth has a purpose. Sometimes it's just as simple as being there to support another person-if you want to think even smaller- just to be there to see the stars that twinkle and hear the birds call.. What you do from the time that you are born until the day you die than can change this entire world. Life is a gift to be enjoyed

On a primitive level.. I'm alive to eat, not to be eaten, and to reproduce (except strike that last one since I dislike children so much).

On a "deeper" level (but not really) I see it sort of like you do... yeah, we're just going to die... and most of what we do everyday is pretty pointless.. it's just a fancied up version of my primitive level description... but I figure, dead seems pretty boring... and working at McDonalds doesn't seem that great either. I'm working towards a future and an education I can at least find interesting until I do finally die.

I don't really know for sure. I'm here already so might as well make the best life I can out of it. And because maybe tomorrow something will happen to make me laugh or happy or I'll see something beautiful or I'll hear some music that gives me pleasure. Or I'll be able to help someone out and make them happy.

everyone is born for a reason. All of Existence, Being and Life follow precise Laws. These universal Laws create your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships and your personal power to manifest the life of your dreams. Deep within you is the knowledge and personal power to unlock your true potential and transform your life. You can achieve self-mastery and a life of wisdom, abundance, love, happiness and purpose.
so live the life of your dreams.

You and eye certainly do not see life in the same way. I love life and try to make the most of each day. I wonder what has made you so bitter and hope you can turn your life around soon.

I live to help others, I quit my job 2 months ago because I got the same feeling, that I was working, for absolutely nothing! I decided to set a better example for my children and others around me and now I do volunteer work with at-risk youth full time...

It doesn't pay the bills, so things have been tight at home, but I feel so much better about my life now.

To change the life of one child, one parent....one person in general. That's why I live...

i am living because of societal pressure. there are people that like the fact that i am alive, simply because i have relationships with them, and since i love them and want the best for them (and not being a selfish person), i am alive for them.

also, i'm alive because the alternative (unless you believe in an after-life) is non-existence. and what fun is that?

Because there is a life after this one through the only man to have escaped Death. Jesus, The Christ of Israel by the Living God.
Faith and Hope is in this.
It is all one really needs to persue life.
One would say how do I know there is a God.
I say by the things I have witnessed in my life.
Because this life is so dreadful and Shallow it is this hope the spurs us on to do good work for him that PROMISED Life Ever Lasting.
(Dan 12:2) And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
(Jhn 3:16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
(1Jo 4:9) In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
