And I dont mean REAL wrestling, I mean that fake crap on TV. I mean seriously, Why do people like watching grown, sweaty men in tights, ACT like they are fighting each other? People ask questions like, Who is the toughest guy in the WWE? (or whatever the hell they call it these days). People, its a SCRIPT! Im sorry if im offending people, but I just dont understand. Please help me to understand why its so well liked. And if you dont like it, please say why.

I was never a fan or a faithful watcher, but I have to admit I liked it up until about 10 or 11, because of people like Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant who were cool characters to me then. I don't even remember thinking about it being real or fake, just that these huge guys seemed to be kicking the crap out of eachother, riding in on Harley's, had cute chicks with huge breasts, talked tough, the kind of stuff most 11 year olds who play GI Joe in the backyard thought.
But I don't understand why any other age group would like it. It just got too silly to watch after 11 or 12. Grown men in tights acting like they're 14 and obviously taking turns hitting eachother in a coreographed play just seemed too immature and phony. I guess thats why its lame to us now.

If you don't understand it, it can't be explained. I don't understand the fascination with ultimate fighting, Survivor, or texas hold-em poker, but I don't feel I have to challenge people that do.
For the person that says it doesn't exist in Europe, have you not paid attention to the massive crowds they draw every time they go there? There have always been wrestling shows in Europe, and there have been some excellent wrestlers come from there, like Otto Wanz and Eric Wright, for starters.
By the way, every drama and soap opera on tv is scripted, what the heck is the difference?

I think "REAL" wrestling is lame. WWE rocks. It's entertaining and every one knows it's fake. The story lines are great. The action is incredible (it might be scripted, but those people are great athletes). It's fun to watch. Is johnifors saying that Americans are silly? Oh yeah, like were the ones who kill each other over a soccer (futbol) game.

omg i think its the lamest thing i've ever known. seriously, why bother watching fake stuff? Its all fake and nothing is even coming out of watching the stuff. Its like watching the paint peel right after you paint it. There is no point. Its not real its not even action its just fake slams and fake injuries. So? What if it is cool? That doenst prove to be anything thats just idiotic. Just because everyone watches it, doesnt mean you have to watch it too. Its not interesting and besides you can do that everyday why bother watching it? You can just record your own actions without hurting anyone and simply watch your own, that is even cooler than watching some fake wrestler that does fake body slams.

I don't watch it anymore but how is wrestling different from the scripted "Reality TV" that is infecting TV right now?

It's the stupidest crap I have ever seen on TV, sooooo fake. In reality, no one could take that kind of beating and still be alive. Give me a break.

Yes - it is very lame. It does not exist in Europe. It makes US look even more silly than usual.
Real sports include cycling, running, skiing, and so on.
Even curling is more sport than "Wrestling"...
