Hello,
As you have been told, various forms of cancers (breast, prostate, testicular, ovarian, cervical, skin, melanoma, lymphoma, leukemia) can be influenced both by genetics and environment. There are many other illnesses, both physical and emotional which fall under the same umbrella. A partial list of those include: anemia of various sorts including sickle cell anemia; seizure disorders of various types; Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia; chances of strokes; high blood pressure; cataracts; glaucoma; optic neuritis (inflammation and narrowing of the artery embedded in the optic nerve, leading to loss of vision); macular degeneration; hearing impairment; dental diseases of various types; seasonal allergies; allergies to particular medications, foods, and other enviornmental objects; thyroid disorders (such as Grave's disease and Hashimoto's thyroiditis); auto-immune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.; diabetes; stomach or duodenal ulcers; certain types of hernias, speech and language disorders such as reading disorders; other learning disorders; depression; bipolar disorder; schizophrenia; anxiety disorders; disorders of addictions (alcohol, drugs, food, sex, etc.); arthritis; osteoporosis or osteopenia; skeletal malformations; neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis, tic disorders, multiple sclerosis, etc.; gout; malformations of the feet and subsequent medically related complications; intelligence (while not a disease - except in Mr. Bush! - it is thought to be partially determined by genetic as well as environmental factors); sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but this can show you the vast range of health conditions which can result from an interplay between our genetic inheritance and our environmental exposures or risk factors. I hope this helps.

Cancer, I think would top the list. You can be genetically predisposed but you can also be exposed to carcinogens like cigarette additives or chemicals in water or food that can increase your changes of getting cancer.
