you can stop those processes by going to start, run, type in msconfig (to get to the configuration tool), and under the startup tab look at the processes that you do not want at startup, click on apply and ok. then it will ask you to restart your computer. restart your computer of course than a dialog box about the utility configuration tool will come up and just check the box so that way it wont come up everytime you log in. that will help stop those processes so they wont make your computer slow.

The svchost.exe program supports other programs running. The best way to cut down on the number is to reduce the number of programs running at start-up.
Some things you can do are to go to the control panel, add & remove programs and remove any programs you are not using. As a caution, if you don't know what a program does research it before removing it. You could be removing something essential.
Another thing you can do is go to start - run - and type in msconfig. When the system configuration window comes up click on the start-up tab. You will see the list of programs that are set to start with the computer. Uncheck everything possible except for your anti-virus-firewall software and anything that you really want to start with the computer. This is simple to undo if you need to change what starts. In this case don't hesitate to uncheck things you don't recognize. You have to restart the computer after doing this. There usually is a pop-up when the computer restarts, it says something to the effect, you have used the selective start up utility... there is a box on the window that says do not display this message again. You must check that box before continuing.
That should cover the basics. When you install new programs try to stop them from loading at start up. You can always start them when needed. If you load everything at start-up it just slows your computer down.

It's a Microsoft Update Issue.
I too was having this problem. After doing a LOT of research, I found the fix. Now my computer is perfect once again. Try installing WindowsUpdateAgent30. A link and more info is available here
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/blogs/mowgreen/index.php?showentry=1071
I used WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
Like I said, It's a Microsoft Update Issue. Turning off Automatic updates will work too, but those updates are important, so I found it better just to install the fix.

This is normal. They are necessary Windows processes. There really isn't a way to clean them up.
