I believe they are vegetarian. They suck plant sap for the sugar etc. So do female mosquitoes, until they need extra nutrients for there eggs, then they come around, looking for donations.

the two female and male mosquitoes "drink" nectar from flora, and are significant pollinators of many plant species, particularly in the tropics. The nectar from flora is sufficient for mosquitoes to maintain them going. in spite of the undeniable fact that, with a view to make eggs, that are severe priced in terms of protein (something which nectar lacks),female mosquitoes drink blood. So your blood basically particularly is going in the direction of egg production, not survival.

Female mosquitoes don't suck blood for nourishment, they suck blood to be able to make eggs to lay.

it's not the females that buzz, its the males. that's why when you hear a mosquito buzzing it's not a big deal because they're not the ones that bite.
