I am 6 months pregnant and want to quit my job. I am completely stressed out because of work, not only is my job strenuous but I work in a hostile environment where one of my superiors and myself are not getting along. I have brought this up to my supervisor’s attention but the problem has not been resolved. She just made us both sign something.

If I was not pregnant I would defianelty quit my job and find another job more suitable and less stressful job. I have even tried to look for a job but employers are not willing to hire a 6-month pregnant woman. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to keep my current job because I need to support my family but i am gettin to the point where i am just going to quit. Can i collect unemployment?

Please if you have any information i can use, please inform me.

Thank you!

I live in CA

You are probably stressing out and on edge because of hormones. Just let it pass. Hang in there. Think of your baby, and try NOT to get fired or quit. IF it happens, you can collect unemployment, but getting fired looks bad on your resume/sticking to it and putting in proper notice after you return from maternity leave sounds like a winner to me...

unfortuanatly thats a choice yooh have to make and mabye a chance yooh have to take i dont no if you will be able to collect unemployment but one thing you can do is look in the back of any baby magazine for stay at home mom jobs because they wont discriminate on pregnant women i was having the same problem yooh can try any of these jobs also yooh could go to monster and fill out a resemea and the will hook yooh up i would say your best bet is to look into these type of jobs and quit once yooh have one but keep your current job untill yooh know your going to be working with one of these companys just incase however some of these will want yooh to make a small payment 2 start uashually about $80 at the very most!

hope this helps

You can't get unemployment if you quit, only if you're fired.

And if you have insurance through this job that is covering the pregnancy, the last thing you should do is quit. You would have to go under the COBRA plan and pay your monthly premium in full out of your own pocket to keep your coverage. And no other company would cover you, they would consider the pregnancy a pre-existing condition.

Stick it out until after the baby comes, then find another job.

Not if you quit your job. You dont get paid when you do that. You will be able to collect disability here in California up to 4 weeks before the baby is due (if there was a probelm then even nefore that), and up to 6 weeks afterwards, 8 weeks if it's a C-section.

I think you could go on unemployment but not if you quit but if you take sick leave which your supervisor has to approve and I think you might need a doctors note but the thing is your maternity leave will be cut short, unless you could work 600 more hours before you go on mat leave. Good luck

If your employer does not provide materinty leave and you have to quit or they fire you then yes there is a very good chance you could get un- employment talk with the un employment office before you have the baby .

You only get unemployment if you are fired, not if you quit. Sorry. You can try to get fired though...
