"There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware."

Is the soundcard built into your motherboard or is it a PCI card? Did you get your computer from Dell, HP, Gateway, etc...? If so then e-mail the company and ask for the drivers for your sound card, but if it is custom built than you will have to find out what brand your sound card is. Then go to some online computer drivers site (I would recommend www.driversguide.com *requires free membership* But if you dont want to go through the hastle then use this
Username - Drivers
Password - All ).

- To continue what you were doing with add hardware then start going through the add hardware wizard and then click *Yes already connected*, and look for something that has to do with Audio (E.X. Realtek AC'97 Audio) Click on it and then click *finish* and it should then it should take you to the microsoft help and that is self explanitory.

If that doesnt help sorry...

You may need to reinstall the drivers for your soundcard. Usually sound cards on on-board (meaning it's attached to the motherboard), you can usually download the drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. Try that and let us know what happens.

You might have to just get a new sound card. There is a possiblitily that the card has died.
