.Some straightforward questions for a geologist who is a Christian who believes in Noah's flood only a few thousand years ago .

1) I have recently read your post hoc explanation that the land was pretty flat everywhere, 6000 years ago. (This, no doubt, because it's impossible to give any kind of scientific explanation where enough water came from to raise the earth's sea level by nearly 30,000 feet; and then where did it all go?) So, according to you, there were no mountains 6000 years ago. I guess this implies that you would disagree with Genesis where it says said the flood covered the mountains and the Arc came to rest on the Mountains of Ararat. Do you disagree with this contradiction to your claim about the absence of pre-deluvian mountains? The bible says they existed. What do you say?

2) Can you cite any major encyclopedia or college textbook which states that the earth is less than 10,000 years old?

You can get some pretty high sea levels if you melt the ice caps. Like what the Earth saw in the Cretaceous. There have been mountains (or at least mountain building) since plate tectonics started (presumably not too long after the Earth got going). No textbook or encyclopedia (credible ones anyhow) will say that the Earth is less than 10,000 years old because the evidence for 4.55 is so overwhelming.

As for Noah's flood, we need to stop taking a book written a long time ago by fallible men so seriously. I am a Christian too, but God gave us common sense, intelligence and the ability to reason. Some of us have chosen not to forego its use.
