Just remember mixed people are the most beautiful people. Most people that hate you are just jealous because you are beautiful and have a nice family that cares about you. Screw them- People are always going to hate. Keep your head held high and don't worry about it.

Brokenhearted, I was in the same place as you are once. I'm also mixed race and was born in Australia. I was adopted by Dutch immigrants as a baby and they already had 6 other kids of their own, all blonde-haired and blue-eyed. We lived in the state of Queensland, which back then was pretty similar to the American south in being backward and racist compared to other states. I was constantly being mistaken for an Aboriginal at school - which for you non-Australians, is a very bad thing, as most Australians hated aboriginals when I was a kid and unfortunately a lot still do.
I was the only non-white kid in a white school and it wasn't a lot of fun for the first year or two. Fortunately my white adopted brother protected me at school and probably saved me from severe mental health issues later on in life.
The rest of my family also fought for me, a lot of it through humour. I learned in adulthood that when shop assistants used to ask my mother why one child was so dark, and the rest of the family blonde, my mother told the them that I was her "love-child", conceived with a local while she was on holiday in the Bahamas, and that's why I was dark-skinned. She justified it by saying, "Well, they obviously wanted something to gossip about,so I thought I'd really make their day." She just didn't care what people thought. Neither did my brother in protecting me and neither did any of my other sisters and brothers. My family made my colour and my adoption into an ongoing comedy act at the expense of other people, and eventually I didn't care either.
The thing is, it does get better as you get older. You may have heard that before but it's true. I still deal with people's curiosity or prejudice through humour or deliberate evasiveness because to me, it's none of their business. When people ask why my sister's so fair when I'm so dark, I just answer that my sister didn't get much sun when she was a kid and stayed inside a lot. (Scary how many people really believe that). I love and adore my blonde-haired and blue-eyed family and wouldn't swop them for the world, even though we have no blood, genes, mannerisms or facial expressions in common. Family are a community of people who you feel a strong belonging to, and they feel a strong belonging to you, and you'll probably be part of a lot of different families in your lifetime, and perhaps none of them blood-connected.
Just keep a little phrase in mind -"people who mind don't matter, and people who matter don't mind."

I bet it is overwhelming! People can be very cruel. Just remember that anyone who would treat you poorly must be pretty miserable with their own life. Your source of strength is in what you posted. Your family loves you "like crazy and doesn't care" what color you are. Genuine people, people worth having in your life, will feel the same way about you. Seek them out and ignore all the others.

I feel bad for you. I have a close friend who comes from a similar situation to yours and she faced lots of prejudice while growing up in a rural town in the south.
It's too bad there are always stupid jerks who see people as a color and not as the person they are. I hope that you will be able to find positive ways to cope with your situation and that you will be successful in life in spite of the troubles you are having now.

Live your life and don't care whether they like you or not. I have that attitude and people call me arrogant and I don't have alot of friends, but you don't need alot of friends. Be selective of the people you hang out with and not care about people who don't like you and you will be more happy. I know I am. They are stupid racist people. A loving family is a blessing no matter what color you or they are.

Awww, i don't hate you. And I'm sure that even those people who are rude and mean to you don't hate you; they're just small-minded. Some people in the world are just butt-holes. It's the way the world is, don't feel like all people are like that. Be they Black or White or any other 'race'. And you don't even need to consider yourself half-anything. It's like saying I'm half brunette cause my hair's brown but my eyes are blue. Someday people will see skin colour like that too, but until then just ignore idiots like that.

I don't see you trying to give your heritage at all but what can I say, the world is full of jerks from Buzzen.com to Yahoo.com, and then in direct face-to-face contact.
I hope you stay strong and concentrate on your goals. Be a success in life despite the evil doers of the world because they only want to bring you down to their level because they aren't decent and they don't hold even a penny to you.

Be proud of who you are and what your roots are, and be proud of your family no matter what colour they are.
Racism is stupid. People that practice racism are inherently, blatantly stupid and rather foolish. They are clearly demonstrating how bigoted, small-minded and childish they are.
Let's face it, being mean and spreading hate makes them feel more important, when in fact it shows how pathetic they truly are.
Sad, isn't it. Don't be brokenhearted, be proud of yourself and your accomplishments. Feel beautiful because you ARE, and your mind is FAR superior to those of your detractors.

OK so you are in the middle and not liking it, but guess who is in the same class as you? Barrak Obama and he's running for president! Pick what you are (choose blk or wht) and put your effort into maximizing your potential.
