I have been building model cars for about 30+ years and there are a number of different thing I have done, such as, loan them to local hobby stores to be displayed for others to get ideas from your finished works, I have bought clear cases from hobby stores, put a car in it and give them to friends children as gifts, or even other family members children who will appreciate them, or even ask you local hobby shop if there is a local modelers club as there is in my home town and see what answers they might come up with, I have gone to the other extreme and parted some out for items my sons needed.

Hahahaha !! I donate many of my military models to the respective recruiters office... including my first 1/350 scale USS Enterprise, USS Mobile Bay, and USS Reuben James. The Air Force got a 1/32 F-15E, and the Army got several 1/35 Abrahms and Bradleys.
I have given 50 or so away as gifts to friends and family. I also gave up my entire 1/35 armor & figures collection plus unbuilt kits to the local kids program.
And I STILL don't have enough shelf space !!

it does depend which type of models you make but they are probably sellable or you could donate them to somewhere like your local doctors/ hospital, etc where they could be displayed?
