They don't say much or show you everything they've got or give you all of their cards, but when they do,it hits you like a ton of bricks.I know a guy nlike this and he's like that in all aspects of life.

Who says everyone has to show you everything about themselves if they are not prepared to, it is not necessary, or they just do not want to? No one has to share every aspect of themselves with the world, so, unless your friend used to be a massed murderer or a dangerous person, it is really up to that person to trust you enough to share their intimate details about them self with anyone.

Is it because he insults you or because you are surprised at his accomplishments? Not knowing the actual situation makes that difficult to answer. Your question is not very clearly defined, I guess. So here is a two-sided answer:

A person who talks a lot appears desperate and doesn't command the respect that a quiet observer-type does. I remember sitting at a bar talking to this guy and we were having a great conversation. I had no idea who he was, then he got up and stage and started singing. It was Johnny Paycheck. He was really down-to-earth, and you would never have known he was a star. I was blown away!!

However, someone who just hits you all-of-a-sudden with mind-blowing insults is someone to stay away from.

I think that all of us have met some one like this in our life time. Also maybe we all at some point have acted kind of like this as well.

Yeah. I don't know what it's called but it reminds me of asperger's syndrome.
