They have done soundings for oil in this region. It is referred to as the ANWAR region. Think that stands for Alaska National Wildlife....,Region. They have shown that drilling does little to affect the migration of the caribou. which seems to be the major concern. It has been reported that there is enough oil in that region to take care of Americas needs for 10-20 years without outside help. Prudhoe Bay area had alot of oil in it but I am not sure if all these figures are correct.
