u close your eye, (if u need to, hold it shut) then u take a little bit of liquid eye-liner and streak it across your eye lid, starting from the outside. just make sure that when u spread it across, u do that right where ur eye lid meets ur eyelashes. the trick is to make ur eyelashes lok darker and bigger, not to use it as eyeshadow! the less u put twords the center of ur eye. the bigger your eyes will look.

Most liquid liners these days have a pointed tip for application. It is tough to get a perfect line and takes some practice but the most important thing is getting it as close to your lash line as possible. I have found that if I put the applicator tip along the actual lash line instead of aiming for the eyelid, it goes on right where it's supposed to and gives you the Audrey Hepburn look you may or may not be going for. Once you get the basic line established, use a cue tip or your fingers to clean up the top of the line so you either have a smudged smokey look or your line is even all the way across.
Hope this helps. Remember, it won't be perfect until you have done it a while and are practiced so cleanup is critical. Someone recommended doing eyeshadow and mascara before eyeliner and I would disagree completely. Eyeliner is first (following your foundation).

I use liquid eyeliner almost daily and I can tell you there is a difference between liners. First of all, make sure that the liner you are using has a solid tip to apply it evenly. Second, make sure you have plenty of q-tips available to clear up the smudges, get them damp with your tongue or water and make sure it's not damp. Start with your uppor lashes after applying your mascara and eyeshadow. Practice this and it's a hit. If you want your eyes to really show up, just apply to your upper lids and not the lower, it's a pretty retro look. Good luck.

Ok, this is probobly the best tip anyone will ever give you. They sell this pen. It looks like those old ones that the presidents used to sign the declaration of indipendence. You know the ones that you have to dip in ink and have a big feather. Well they sell it with Avon and its like 5.00 but its magical. Its like using a crayon. Its great for first time users like you and then you once you get the hang of it, you can move on to more complicated stuff.

take the brush or whatever it comes with and squish it so it has a point, then dip it in the eyeliner and put it in a thin line around your eyes. you can also smudge it for a more bold look.

you have to use your nondominant hand to pull the corner of your eyeand stretch it out and closed... (look like an asian, no offense to anyone!) and I always start at the inside corner to the outside of my eye... make sure also that you wipe the tip and get excess eyeliner off of it so its not drippy!
