Memory is not important. Manufacturers put a lot of memory (512 MB) on the worst cards so they can rip people off who don't know a lot about video cards. Get an ATI Radeon x1950xt, BY FAR the best performer for just under $200. It outperforms all 512mb cards except for x1950xt 512mb (same card but with more memory, a waste), x1950xtx (a rip off considering it doesn't offer much more performance) and the HD 2900xt (way too much for you, 430).

user-friendly giving the RAM of a photographs card capacity not something. you may ought to be ALOT greater particular. as an occasion my ATI 4870 has 512mb of ram. This desires 2 PCI show capability adapters, maximum PSU's have not got that, and would not furnish the capability besides. There may be a protracted checklist of why that is not nicely suited. in spite of the undeniable fact that, simply by fact which you have a Pentium 4, i'm going to anticipate the computer is amazingly previous. the cardboard you have advised him you go with is maximum possibly PCI show, and your motherboard is possibly AGP.

If you already decided on these two then I would advise you to get the Nvidia card because a lot of games run smoother on it (according to my experience). But the ATI card is good too, but cost more than the Nvidia card.
It also depends on what kind of games you play, and how much you play. If you want to play the latest games then I suggest you go with the 7900 series, which you can afford, but 7950 is better, but over 200 USD.

Paste this link on ur internet explorer. All the cards between 100 to $200. Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS with 320MB is another option.

In PC gaming, high clock rate(core and videoram) is the name of the game. Do not settle for anything less than ddr3; you might regret it later. 256mb ddr3 will beat 512mb ddr2 ALL THE TIME. 512Mb videoram is NOT always fully utilized in games.

i would say opt for a x1950 series with less memory. by the time any games require 512mb of ram you would probably want a new system but thats just my opinion.
