It has been the long standing policy of this Great United States Of America that we DO NOT negotiate with terrorists.

So, someone please give me a valid reason why we let the loons in N. Korea threaten the world with nukes for a couple years… but now that they say basically “Well, now that you have agreed to show us the money, we will step down on our Nuke policy… Hell, we will even let the UN in to check it out! We love you so very much now, USA!”

Anyway… why has our government for the last 40 plus years paid these rouge states to shut them up? Why do we keep funding governments that just use this money to stock arms to threaten us and the world… while they people starve and receive disinformation?

This is a bi-partisan issue and is a fact that I can not understand.

It is a gutless tactic that cost the American tax payer MILLIONS every year. If the countries around these rouge nations aren't willing to step up and clean their own back yards, then why should WE?

This isn't a negotiation, N Korea may not be the best country in the eyes of the US, but they aren't holding anyone hostage. Yes, they have nuclear technology, but they haven't overtly threatened anyone with it. We froze their assets, and made promises to give them lightwater reactors in exchange for a non-military pursuit of nuclear power for N Korea. We did not follow through with that goal. So now we find ourselves back at the bargaining table.

No, but we send them arms like Reagan did Iran!

It is better to deal with them directly than not deal with them at all. Not listening or meeting with them is shear lunacy and is the poorest excuse of diplomacy I have ever heard.

Think things will ever get better if we don't even listen to them? You don't have to give in to demands. and unlike Reagan, you don't have to sell them weapons and aircraft parts either, especially after they just blew up a Marine barracks killing 242 Marines!

Let's declare the whole world a terrorist state! Hell, I bet many classify us as one!

What money have we given to N Korea? Who are you talking about?

Oh, Saudi Arabia gives us oil for our money! Though they are Bush's friends, and the home of terrorists, they are not listed as a terrorist state! Guess we need that oil, and places like N Korea have none!

Do you realize that the third paragraph in your rant, directly contradicts the first paragraph?
I do agree that if we hadn't aided the Taliban or Saddam Hussein in the 80s things would probably be quite different today.

International politics isn't all white hats and black hats, you have to make compromises. You can't just up and nuke N.Korea, for instance, since they have a mutual defense pact with CHINA.

We should negotiate with all nation-states. Doesn't mean we give in or compromise our ideals.

It's buy them off or bomb them. It's probably the right call this time.
