i just got some VC games on my wii and i plan on buying some gamecube controllers to play it and me and my friend wanna play wii games but i only have 1 set of wii controllers and there so dang expensive!!! so it will be 2 weeks untill i get a wii controller... but anyways can i play wii games iwth a gamcube controller?

yes you can, you can use it on most virtual console games.
also, contrary to what alot of guys above me say, if a wii game calls for you to use the classic controller for it, you may use the gamecube controller instead of the classic controller since they have the same button layout.
When super smash bros brawl comes out for the wii, you will be able to use your gamecube controller

The only non virtual console Wii game that I know of that will let you use a Gamecube controller is Metal Slug Anthology. It doesn't allow you to use a Classic Controller though.

Yup, you're good. Think about it for a minute; what good would it be for the Wii to be backwards-compatible with Gamecube games if you couldn't use Gamecube controllers with it? None, right? Have fun!

You can only use the GameCube to play VC games. Sorry but you can only use the Wii Remote to play Wii games. I guess your going to have to wait 2 weeks. Alothough, WarioWare Smooth Moves is a really fun game that has multiplayer. And, when you play multiplayer, you only need one remote. You just have to pass the Wii Remote back and forth. So two choices, wait 2 weeks,or buy WarioWare.

Unfortunately not, a lot of the virtual console games and all the gamecube games (obviously) use the gamecube controller but currently all of the Wii titles use the Wiimote and Nunchuck.

If you mean games like wii sports then no, however most games from virtual console can be played with a cube controller.

you cannot play regular wii games with the gamecube controller but, you do use the gamecube controller for the VC games...have fun!!
