I always end up drawing the same picture.
It's always a tree in the foreground, with the same landscape and blue sky with stormy clouds.
It's happened several times now without me realising - does it mean anything?

on my opinion, you end up drawing the same picture because drawing a picture isnt exactly a thing that would really interest you but for the pleasure of your daughter, you drag yourself and the only thing that comes to your imagination is the same landscape.N also because drawing a tree with the landscape and blue sky with stormy clouds doesnt need much effort and voila, your thing is done n you daughter is happy too.

I'm not going to be a palm-reader or pull any of that mumbo-jumbo on you... I think that it means that you want and like simple things. Maybe you are just repetitious in your thinking while drawing with your child.

That sounds like a general child's picture to me. The one with the tree and the house with a chimney, the very green grass and a few things like that. I recommend trying something else with your daughter.

It is an easy picture to draw. I draw the same boring picture too usually...a house with a tree next to it, because I can't draw anything any more complicated than that.

Hi MrFrewster

1. What do you draw if you are on your own. If you haven't tried it, please do it before going on to question 2.

2. If you draw something more complex/interesting/skilful when you are on your own, could ity be that you keep doing the simple drawing so as to avoid making your daughter feel that she can't draw very well?

If so, that's a nice intention, but not necessarily very helpful for your daughter. Giving her a standard that will stretch her - within reason - might be more beneficial.

OK,I'll tell you what i think!!
i think the tree is...you..and you're alone..the blue sky is the peace you need to feel but you know that you can't have it-so you have the storm coming..the same landscape means you want sth regular in your life!!
i know I'm no psychologist....but you asked!

Yes I am quite sad as well ,all my pics boil down to a mouth, an eye and also a tree and a house so if it does mean anything then I am as sad as you.(and I have an A level art)

It could be that its the easiest thing for you to draw, or that those particular shapes and colors appeal to you. Or it could be that the picture reminds you of something and so you keep drawing it.
I wouldn't worry about it. Its probably just coincidence.

Your subconscious may have to do with this. Try to find meaning in the elements of your picture. Definitely look into Sigmond Freud on the subconscious.

It means your not a very versitile artist.

If it bothers you, think of something else to draw, and draw that.

If you're happy drawing the same scene, what's the harm?

The point is to do something together, right?
