I have opened this site and it is a valid site. Only has tracking cookies, that I deleted with my software.
Just like any other webpage, you open and the page will drop a tracking cookie into your system, or some pages have embedded trojans. If you have a really good antivirus with an excellent background scanner, pages with embedded trojans or viruses, will be killed in real time when you open the webpage.

it does have adware and a few of there flash files do contain viruses which are the developers fault for uploading them to newgrounds but the people who run the site once they find out they take it off the site. newgrounds did contain zango but they said on siteadvisor they took out the zango and other sites with viruses the site should be ok but there is tracking cookies like there is with this site and any others. but beware when you going on newgrounds cause it can cause pop ups sometimes just make sure your using opera internet browser or firefox.

If you add-on McAfee SiteAdvisor, it will warn you of potentially harmful sites.

There are no longer links to downloadable games that contain the Zango. We have also suspended links to FreeEzinebucks. Finally, there aren't any pop-ups on the front page and pop-ups throughout the site should be limited to one per page. We're hoping the experience is better than it has been for some users in the past!

Heya, in short, newgrounds is the flash creation underground of the net.
TREAD WITH ANOTHER BROWSER BESIDES INTERNET EXPLORER! YOU WILL GET SOME POPUPS IF YOU DONT! I RECOMMEND FIREFOX!

It is for the most part a wiki community for flash files/music files. Now as far as I'm concerned, music files can't be viruses, however flash files programmed correctly can be as dangerous as a virus, even more dangerous though. However the staff of newgrounds most of the time tests the content before they put it up, and if reviewers before you say its fine, it probably is. Read the reviews first.
But, there are also mature sections, ads to blatantly bad sites, a section devoted to links to webcams, and a page that tells you if you want to go to these sections you WILL DOWNLOAD ZANGO.
That's the only bad part of the site I know of, and if you go there and get a virus that's your own fault, the site even warns you about them. This awesome site shouldn't be marked red for those things alone. Perhaps yellow with a description "Good unless you go looking for trouble."
My recommendation: Use firefox and you'll be fine.

Although it has some popups, not clicking on them will stop you from any infections.
Also, the free ezine links and Zango downloads have been removed, so the site is pretty much clean now.
Also note that I am a frequent visitor to NewGrounds, and have never encountered any problems on my system arising from the site.

I do not know what rating to give this site. It is both good and bad. The flash vidoes and game are fun, but some of the downloads did contain a few annoyences. I would suggest if you want to use this site to watch some flash videos and play some flash games, don't download and be carful what actions you take on this site.

I swear...chan sites are trying to raid NG left and right...
Do you want to know the real reason why those sites try to raid NG?
Well, the users apparently submit small, short movies to NG and they get deleted because of the low score they get from other users.
This made them mad and they tried to get back at NG by raids...but they fail every time...
7chan didn't even raid yesterday...nothing happened...and if 4chan attacks, they will fail too.
Newgrounds often finds out thing way before they happen, so we won't be able to be brought down...
I've noticed that NG has been getting many attacks or attack threats...
Be careful...
