I have a main computer with a Wrt300N which is wirelessly connected to a laptop, two other computers, and playstation 3. When i use the laptop, the connection on the other computers goes way down and sometimes disconnects....anyone know what the problem is? I also have a left over router...could I use two in the same household? Thanks in advance!

Check Linksys's web site for a firmware update, make sure you check for the right version of your router. The only way you can use two routers is if your ISP provides you two IP addresses. Mode Cable modems will only connect to one device so if you use a hub to connect both to your cable modem, only the first one it sees will have connectivity. There should be no reason why you wouldn't be fine with just one. You may also want to check connection priority in the router configuration. There is a page where you can prioritize bandwith by connection: wireless, LAN1, LAN2, LAN3 & LAN4 - unless you need to reserve bandwith for a VoIP box, it's usually best to disable those settings. It is also possible that your laptop has been compermised and is simply using up all your bandwith. Run a full virus scan and spyware scan on your laptop and also use the task manage to see how active your processor and network connection are. When not doing anything, your process or should only be at 2 - 3% - if you see double digits you might have a problem.

Do not plug one router into another, that results in your second network providing a double-nat connection which is going to result in your pulling your hair out and killing the nearest person.

Is everything wireless (do you have wireless adapters in the PCs, the laptop and the PS3)? If so, then the computers and the PS3 are probably maintaining persistent connections to the router and the overall bandwidth gets saturated when you add the laptop on top of that. I bet if you connected your PCs via Cat 5 cable and just reserved wireless use for the laptop and PS3 your problem would disappear.

you could connect 2 routers at the same time. as a effect, you may desire to make the router it is declared to the internet the DHCP server. the single that's not related to the internet needs to have the DHCP server disabled and an IP address interior of the different router's variety assigned to it. you ought to examine the manuals of the two routers to help with this extra.

I think there is a signaling problem at the AP, so there is loss of connection strngth.

And about 2 wi fi's i don't think so, the frequency of the sigs may collide resulting in not connected error.
