i tend to look down on them if they are doing it in a formal or semi-formal situtation. like in school when a teacher is talking. or maybe at a lecture or something.

but if its like a casual situation....at the mall, working in class when teacher is not talking.... i feel its okay.

personally, i smack my gum a lot. i feel its part of the "gum chewing" experience. it just somehow feels incomplete without it.

what do you think? do you tend to judge people when they smack their gum???

I dont like the smacking of gum especially when it occurs at an inappropriate time and place. There is always a place and a time when the smacking of gum can be ok . Anyway I think that's why they call it bubble gum due to the smack and the pop of bubbles as part of an experience that any child and even adults can enjoy.

Well if you are with friends and just hanging out and not doing anything formal then it's all good really. But if you're giving say some sort of presentation and doing that then it's just tacky and doesn't look good at all. Anyway I tend to think that the poerson is enjoying their gum. I'm not gonna look down on somebody for doing that as we all have our share of annoying habits that we want other people to accept without being judged for them.

First of all I don't really think that some people realize they are being so annoying. They are just busy people. There are some who do it to get someones attention, that can be annoying. It really doesn't bother me personally. Whats the point in chewing gum if you can't blow bubbles.

This is all crazy. What is next? Are we going to ban teachers and students from talking about guns in the context of war? History even at the elementary level will be very difficult to teach if we keep this insanity up. I remember being in jr high school and my 9th grade teacher brought a Civil War era pistol to show us when talking about the Civil War. It was so interesting and helped even the kids that were not interested in history become engaged with the lesson. Back then common sense was allowed to reign which allowed our teacher to show us this piece of history. I worry about the kids in public school now. Common sense just isn't common it seems now.

People who smack their gum gets annoying. But, I'd rather have them smack their gum once in a while than smack their food during dinner.

No I don't judge people who smack their gum, because I do that all the time it's kinda a habit for me.

I honestly don't mind it. I think it's cool that they can blow big bubbles.... the gum popping really annoys my teachers, though (they allowed us to chew gum in class). I guess they're just jealous that they can't blow bubbles!

Personally "smaking" isn't my cup of tea, I think it looks unattractive. But hey, if someone prefers to chew like a cow I say why not, there's more important things to get bothered about and judge upon!!!

Well I don't smack my gum but I am a bubble blower and popper. I think it's very rude to smack anything.

ugh i hate that! its a pet peeve. and it kills me when people eat gum or food while talking to me on the phone, or when I'm at a restaurant and someone is eating their food so fast that sometimes they have to stop to check if they didn't scarf down the table cloth while they were busy gorging themselves.
