"The female lays two to three eggs a few days after the nest is completed. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the young. The eggs are incubated in an unusual way. The pelican will put its webbed feet over the eggs to keep them warm. The chicks hatch after about a month."

I was about 7 years old and I thought that the eggs that we get from the grocery stores have chicks on them. So I sat on it for like 5 minutes then i crushed it! I asked my 5 year old sister will the egg hatch if I sit on it for a long time, then she said no. The farmers have to fertilize it first. I said OOPS! Then I showed her the crushed egg then she laughed. I'm so stupid!
