If you want to estimate how much of anything you need from paint for the living room to how many miles per gallon your car gets, you need math.
To keep good records so that you don't over pay your taxes (or underpay and find yourself facing penalties and interest,) you need math.
To make sure someone isn't cheating you, (applied for a mortgage lately? or figured your commission for a job?) you need to be able to do the math and check. Being able to do math and it's companion, handle money and a budget, is your opportunity to get ahead in the world.

Well, there was a man who thought every question in the universe could be solved by converting the objects involved into numbers, or at least comparing them to numbers. Now, he was a mathematical genius, but also schizophrenic, so maybe he wasn't right...

You have to be good at math in order to be a mathematician, pharmacist, doctor, architect, scientist, etc. All of the above are professions, so...

.........I'm Asian but numbers confuse and confound me! I failed 7th grade algebra.

All the mathematics you learn from elementary to your first year in university (calculus) will be useful in every day life.

i thinks I'll probly use like 10% of what I learn in school in real life
