I'm impressed that at 16 you like a car with style and class. Most people your age are running around in tin can Civics or Intregras.

If you had to choose the car with the lowest operating and repair costs between Cadillac, Lincoln or Buick, Buick wins everytime.

Don't get me wrong, Cadillac is a nice car. But the Northstar engine is very expensive to fix. And so are the electrical problems that Caddy is famous for.

Lincoln, you don't even want to go there.

The 97 Buick Riviera in question is overall a very reliable car. The 3800 V6 that it uses is probably the most reliable V6 available in any American car. It's that good. It has been in use for many decades and has been proven over and over again.

Try to find a Supercharged Riviera, with 240 hp those are the fun ones. You can modify them into fairly quick cars for their size.

When new 97 Riviera was about $30,000 to $40,000 with options. Today you can buy one with average miles for a fraction of that.

I'd wouldn't have any problem recommending the Riviera. You would have one of the nicest cars at school!

they were more prestigious in the 70s. The 80s and 90s were rough on them. Luxury 2-doors started to be hard to sell in the 90s, plus the look of the car was not attractive to usual Buick owners.

It's a very good car because you can get luxury and decent performance for a very very low price. Buick is the most reliable of american cars and because its GM, the parts are not very expensive.

If you like big american cars of the 90s. Take a look at a Cadillac STS and the lincoln Mark VII (or mark VIII... anyway the 90s Mark something :))

I have a 98 Buick Century. It's been a decent enough car. I've had 3 repairs in the 8 years I've owned it. Total cost of repairs, about $1,500. None of them would have stopped me from driving the car, but they were things that needed to be fixed, like the turn signal/cruise control/wiper control unit, electric window motor, and AC compressor.

They certainly were better equipped and more luxurious than the Camrys and Accords of the same era.

Assuming the two bypass muster on the inspection, i could choose for the three.8L and the LeSabre. i think of the 3800 has 205 HP and the 3100 had ~a hundred and sixty back then and in a motor vehicle that's barely fairly smaller that HP and TQ is accessible in obtainable. The 3800 is likewise much less perplexing to artwork on. you may desire to pull the full suited end off a 3100 (pushrods in the way) to alter an intake mani gasket mutually as the 3800 is nowhere close to as in contact. basically a greater suitable designed engine, era. If the LeSabre passes inspection, get it.
