do you really want to here the truth ,or do you want me to up sell you ?
the extended policy really sounds great till you actually read the fine print, read the fine print.
it does not cover wearable parts such as engines, breaks, electrical, gears in the transmission, and so on.
but if for example you actually had a covered part of the car go bad like a door latch,or trunk lock you could have that $50 part fixed for only a $50 deductable and were even and your happy. there is a lemon law on new and used cars,if you bought a new car it is covered for 3 years in most states, and if you are buying a used car, there is a little seceret called THE BUYERS BILL OF RIGHTS, the price of this is written in stone ,$75 per $5k of purchase price,72 hour guarntee,w/all money refunded if you dont like it.fees too"buy this only"

FOR THESE PEOPLE THAT THINK THEY CAN BUY A COMPLETE REPAIR OF A USED CAR FOR A FEW DOLLARS JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND WARRANTIES. a WARRANTY IS WAY TO REDUCE THE COST OF OWNING A VEHICLE NOW DAYS, AND NO WARRANTY EVER WRITTEN COVERS EVERYTHING. MANY TIMES THE PROBLEM IS THE SELLING DEALER DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE COVERAGE TO THE BUYERS. MOST CAR BUYERS NEVER READ THE WARRANTY, AND MANY CAR SALESMEN TELL THEM EVERYTHING IS COVERED. SO WHEN BREAK DOWNS OCCUR THE CAR OWNER BLAMES THE WARRANTY COMPANY, NOT THE DEALERSHIP THAT DIDN'T EXPLAIN THE WARRANTY, OR THE MECHANIC WHICH MISDIOGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND GOT THEIR WARRANTY TURNED DOWN. A USED CAR THAT HAS SOME TYPE WARRANTY ISNORMALLY CHEAPER TO REPAIR BREAKDOWNS THAN CARS THAT HAVE NO WARRANTYS. MANY DEALERS SELL A DRIVE TRAIN ONLY WARRANTY WHICH MEANS THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION ARE THE ONLY COVERED PARTS, BUT CHARGE LARGE PRICES FOR IT AND ALLOW THE BUYERS TO THINK THEY HAVE FULL COVERAGE. WHEN MECHANICS CHARGE 60 TO 120 BUCKS AN HOUR AND MANY MAKE THE PROBLEMS WORSE AFTER WORKING ON THE VEHICLES, BUYERS NEED TO UNDERSTAND A LARGE PART OF THE PROBLEMS WITH WARRANTYS IS THE DEALERS SELLING CARS THAT ALREADY NEED REPAIRS, THE EXTREME HIGH COST OF QUESTIONABLE REPAIR, AND TE BUYER NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS COVERED AND WHAT IS NOT. DON'T ALWAYS BLAME THE WARRANTY COMPANY, YOU ARE USUALLY WRONG.

Look for one backed by a large insurance company and you won't have to woory about them folding. Some of these companies are more sound than the "Factory" programs that aren't really backed by the factory at all. Read the policy. The best ones are exclusionary. Tha means if it isn't excluded, then it is covered. If you get one that has a anmed componet coverage, be careful. Because in those if it is listed as covered, then it is not. I've never heard ofthat one, and I've heard of most.

As a rule, these 3rd party extended warranties aren't worth the cost.
They always have deductibles, and the things that break the most are not covered. At least that was my experience.
Clark Howard, a syndicated radio consumer advocate says they also have a tendency to fold up and disappear, after a year or two, leaving you with no coverage.
The only auto warranty worth pursuing is the factory warranty from the manufacturer.

I have the CARS extended warranty and find it very difficult to process a claim. Their customer service is very poor and they require too much detail in analyzing a problem. I have been waiting for over 1 week for approval to fix my transmission, which is cover under the provisions of the contract. They seem to be trying to wear us out with details. The company has several law suits against it regarding claims.
