Jesse is a racist and lives off of keeping the black populous status as a victim rather than lifting them up as an equal. He wouldn't have a job if racisim went away so he does a great job of stiring the racisim pot.

Jesse has always had much less political influence than Falwell, not to mention fewer followers. Falwell founded the Moral Majority and actually influenced a whole block of voters. Jackson is just an annoying guy who is occasionally in the news because the media likes to tout him as a "black leader".

They're both nuts but the scary thing was that many people didn't see Falwell as a nut job. They thought he was legit.

I am glad Falwell is gone. He didn't do anything good for this country. He hurt this county by pushing the religious right into political positions and spreading his hatred via religion. Good riddance.

Jesse Jackson didn't call the civil rights movement the civil wrong movement, nor did he blame gays for 9-11, hurricanes Katrina and Andrew. Jesse Jackson wasn't a segregationist. Jesse Jackson advocates helping people Jerry Falwell wanted us to hate people. There is a big difference between trying to help people and hurting people!

Jesse tries to build up a community - Jerry tried to destroy several.

Jesse has a message of inclusiveness - Jerry has a message of exclusiveness.

Jesse preaches that God loves people - Jerry preached that God hated people.

Jesse is a man of the people - Jerry was so insulated from anyone that wasn't just like him, that he had no frame of reference for everyday people.

Jesse is probably sane, for the most part - I think Jerry had lost a few too many marbles along the way.

I can see the parallels too though. Both are idealogues. Both probably get an undue amount of media attention. Both worked on social issues from a platform of religion.
