they should not be used for lab experiments...this should be outlawed. If more people put their foot down and did not support the companies doing this, it would not happen

I am not for them killing animals for testing or experiments, except some medical.
When I was in Anatomy and Physiology we each had our own cats. Some were pregnant!
"The most un-talked about, unappreciated, unknown giant in the African American community. What he helped facilitate impacted people all over the world. -- Dr. Levi Watkins, surgeon"
At the height of segregation in the United States, an unlikely alliance between a black medical genius and a white surgeon led to some of the 20th century's pioneering medical breakthroughs, chief among them the procedure that cured the heart defect that caused "blue baby syndrome."
Vivien Thomas, whose medical collaboration with surgeon Alfred Blalock opened new paths for healing at a time when most doors were closed to African Americans.
Thomas, a high school graduate, received an honorary doctorate from Johns Hopkins. After 37 years at Hopkins, he was appointed to the medical school faculty.
So a black man and a dog are responsible for the surgical procedure that wiped out children dying because of hole in their hearts! I'd say the dog died for a greater cause than those in Iraq!

I am sure there are plenty of homeless, alcoholic, crack head, meth using dirt bags out there that would be willing to have scientists use them as lab rats for $50 or so instead of testing on animals! All they need to do is take an add out in the Sunday paper:
WANTED - individual to test new medicated cream designed to remove wrinkles. $50 per day! Call 800 555-1234 for details!

I felt very similar to you until I got my eye chemically burned by a face-wash that proudly boasted that it didn't test on animals. It was extremely painful - and this was a product that with normal use has lots of chances of getting near the eyes.
I do, however, feel that many of the animal testing needs to use more common sense. We don't need to make mice ingest half their body-weight on a daily basis of something to see if it cause cancer or not - that's pretty irrelevant of normal human use of anything.

Most of the animals they use for testing would not have the slightest idea how to survive in the wild. They are domesticated and a lot have been genetically altered to provided better test subjects.
So setting them free would really be the most cruel thing you could do to them.

Because it is better to test things on animals than on humans. There is no modeling for drug interaction, no modeling for treatment therapies, no modeling for reactions, no modeling for effects of medical procedures, etc.
So, you need to use animals for preliminary testing to screen out products and procedures that could cause harm to humans, or to make them safer.
Considering nearly all current medical procedures and drugs have been tested on animals, perhaps you should forego utilizing any of them in protest of the treatment of animals. That would leave you... aspirin. Good luck with that.

Sure...next time we invent what we think is a new life saving vaccine we'll just use animal rights lovers to inject it into first.
Animals are not people. Sure we need some regulation but give me a break...they don't have rights.

You are quite correct and I applaud you and your position. The animal kingdom has long been the challenged group in regards to exploitation greater than any human community on earth.

If we can create new products without animal testing that's great. But if an animal HAS to be used for testing and research for creating drugs, well that just has to be. I would rather see a cure for cancer.
