Diana died in Paris,France.Her car,driven by a drunken driver,crashed in the Place d'Alma,a tunnel known for its history of 34 crashes during the previous 15 years.The tunnel had claimed 8 lives before Diana,Henri Paul and Dodi Fayed were killed.
Henri Paul had been driving at 65 mph on a 30mph road,then suddenly accelerated to 74-97 mph before he crashed the car into a concrete pillar.He had been driving at unsafe speeds to outrun some paparazzi.
Fayed and Paul were killed instantly.Diana died at Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital,a 10-minute ride away from the accident spot.It took 30 minutes for Diana to arrive at the hospital because as soon as she was removed from the wreck,emergency crews(doctor and assistants)tried treating her right away.Unfortunately,the damage done to her heart required immediate open-heart surgery for her to even have a chance of survival.Hospital crew worked on her for about 3 hours before she was declared dead at 4 a.m. .
Only one person survived the crash, body guard Trevor Rees- Jones;his seat belt saved him.

Diana was killed in Paris on August 31st 1997. She was killed in a tragic car accident which killed the driver Henri Paul as well as Diana's companion, Dodi Al Fayed. Diana died because of the car accident but it is still unclear whether the car accident was an accident. Many people believe that there was some kind of set up to kill the Princess because she was breaking the mold and stepping out of traditional royal behavior. She was taking her life back into her own hands and the people still loved her and I think this upset the royal family.
