60's or 70's Northern Soul record about a Snake?

I heard a great old, 60's or maybe 70's Northern Soul song on the radio about 6 months ago.it was all about a wicked Snake
Anyone got any ideas what it might be and who sang it?

It's by Al Wilson and it's called The Snake

On her way to work one morning

"I saved you," cried the woman

"Oh shut up, silly woman," said the reptile with a grin
