This is not a dumb question.

The problem with what you are asking is in your statement. Millionaires DONT work for anyone. 95% of them own their own businesses or create and sell ideas or products. VERY FEW millionaires today saved their way there just happily working at a job.

I plan to be a millionaire by the time I am in my 40's. Based on my current savings and rate of savings I am on track. I enjoy my job and don't mind picking up overtime. Instead of focusing on a money goal why not focus on a career you like and adjust your financial plan from there.

A million actually isn't what it used to be. It would be possible to run through it, if you're young and don't conserve your spending.

But a million should be enough for a very comfortable retirement.
