Assign the different cpu's a static IP addy and it will work. That's assuming you have a multi-port modem/router w/ an ethernet cable running to both computers.

You can't, you can only assign an IP for each network card. Your cable modem is only going to have 1 IP address. You can have each computer (not CPU, assuming you have 2 machines) setup for static IP, connecting to the cable modem though.

the modem only has 1 ip address and that will be dynamic, u will have to call your isp to get a static ip address that usally costs extra.
if you want to share the internet between more than 1 pc you will need to buy a cable router box, goto your local pc shop and ask for a cable/dsl router.

You cant, you need a router than can handle the mappings, we use Draytek for our split IPs
