MCTS (microsoft Certified Technical Specialist) is easier to do because normally there is one exam that completes the entire course. Example MCTS for SQL Server 2005 only requires exam 70-431. So I'm curious is the MCTS certification hold as much weight as far as importance compared to MCSE or MCDBA which requires a lot more exams?

An MCSE or MCDBA cert has much more weight behind it. Whereas the MCTS certs show that you have skills in one particular specialty, the MCSE and MCDBA certs are much broader in the amount of knowledge required to pass. In today's IT field, it's important to have a broad skillset to excel.

Well, I would pass over any of MS certs, they have a habit of moving the gaol posts, from one side of the field to the side lines

meaning. once xp is out dated (which is going to be very soon now) your going to have to update your
certs to Vista.

If your interested in doing IT studies then go the right way about it, take those microsoft blinkers off,

Doing the MCSE/MCTS/MCDBA you will only be learning about microsoft, products, installation and networks, In the real world of IT there is more to it, Micrsoft, is just a small part when it comes to LAN and WAN systems. servers and the rest

your going to have to know about Linux, this is the back bone of all networking so do some real research into Linux, before you commit yourself to paying for MS studies,

Start by going to HP, Dell, Compac and Novell websites and in the search bar type Linux it will surprise you what you will find, and didn't know.

Everybody thinks there is only MS until they move out into the real world with their new MCSE/MCTS certificates, then they are asked can you setup a linux system with MS running on top of linux, setup several virtual linux servers, with windows workstations,

just a bit of advice I would not like you to fall flat on your face at your first job interview

Do some real research don't wast your time and money on something that will not last for the next couple of years..... stop thinking Microsoft I know it is been branded across your forehead

do a web search like this :-

dell/linux
hp/linux
compaq/linux
ibm/linux
novell/linux
intel/linux
microsoft/linux
see what you come up with LOL
