how sad that everyone's so quick to condemn the young man who asked a question on Homeless. I for one certainly know hes telling the truth, and no hes not looking for a free ride, nor does he own a computer. i know him personally. i felt tremendously sorry for him. i also have tried various organizations to do with 'homelessness' to no avail. and yes he is in a genuine situation. and yes he does work, but finds it difficult as he has nowhere to live. i suggested he asked all of you the question on the net. and what a lot of inhumane people some of myou are out there.

I didn't see the question, wish I had. And yes, there are a lot of heartless people out there. The homeless are not just a bunch of lazy people, or drug addicts. I know many people who go to day labor jobs every day, 7 days a week, 12 hours a dayand just can't get ahead!!! I am fortunate enough to have parents who can help me or I would be one of them, as I am disabled. Tell your friend I am sorry for the foolish people who were so unkind, but there are some who understand. By the way, my parents make a good deal of money, and they sympathize as well. Tell him to hang in there, and if he is ever in Reno, I can get him a place to stay, and know where he can get fairly good work. But even those things might not get him ahead. Some people are dealt a raw deal in life.

WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!
Firstly, calm down and secondly (when you've calmed down) you'll understand that lots of freaks and weirdos have posted stuff that is not true or (try) to emotionally manipulate users on this site. Even well-meaning and compassionate people are wary of being used. You can't blame people for being sceptical. As you can see, there are a lot of people who responded with the best advice/web links/sympathy as best they could. Communicating with people over the net is a bit limited and I'm sure there are 1000's who would do more if they could and/or had more details. I personally can't do much directly for this bloke coz I don't even live in the UK. Please be careful you sweep with one broom and just ignore the haters.
Good luck to you and the dude you are trying to help.
*Could you and/or him let us know how it turns out?*

i didn't read the original question but i'll try to reply to this one.

as a generalization i guess you could say there are lots of in-humane ppl out here, i know i've dealt with a few in my past.

i also know being homeless is not easy and help, real help, is hard to find. i've known some homeless ppl too and i helped out. but soon i was over-run by them! (maybe i was too nice?) my situation was looking more and more as if i would soon become one of them!! needless to say, to save myself, i stopped being so helpful. (and i'm sure some ppl would think me inhumane) all i can say to you, since you know this person and the situation, is don't give up trying to help your friend. but be careful and set firm limits early on!

Everyone thinks that we can all be these perfect, model leave-it-to-Beaver citizens if we just "straighten up" and "get our heads right". That's so simple-minded! I sympathize with you, I'm not homeless but judging from my bills alone (and I live like a Buddhist monk almost) and minimum wage as it is, plus not having reliable transportation, a shower, and access to a respectable-looking wardrobe, I can totally see how one could be unable to afford bottom-basement rent if their luck was sour enough.

It`s always sad to hear of anyone being homeless, it seems no one will help homeless young men. On the other hand there seems to be always homes available for young girls who get pregnant they get handed a key with all the benefits..Oh! we must not say anything about them as it will bring the wrath of God upon us...... I just think things should be a little fairer.

Not sure what your question is but I will help you with your homeless man situation - let him live with you, that is, if you are compassionate enough.
