I think it is easier to feel happy.
It is a habit, and once established - it is easy to maintain.

I guess that depends on who you are. Some people are happy all the time and do not even no what being depressed feels like, well others struggle to be happy and have no results. Some people have no control at all, when they are happy they are happy and they are depressed they are depressed. I do know that no one likes being depressed, but for some it is easier to be depressed, because the depression takes over and being happy is a want but not always possible. I also know that if a person feels depressed for too long or if a person feels like their emotions are like a roller coaster they probably should talk to their doctor.

I feel depression is easier. One can get depressed with so many things and remain the same way. But one always has to find happiness, go looking for it everywhere. Even the small things which can be ignored easily have to be remembered and thought upon to be happy.

It's easier to be depressed, with so many bad things happening around the world and in your life. Things don't always happen as you plan and your expectations are so high. I've been depressed before, but I am naturally a happy person. You have to stop and realize how blessed you are.

I think society makes it much easier for us to feel depressed. They like everyone to look and think the same. It is more a state of mind to feel happy and love yourself and your surrounding.. I feel being happy or feeling happy takes more work.. so it's easier to feel depressed..

Everyone is a little different. I guess for me I would say that it depends on the time of the day. Before bed I tend to be critical on myself and for the most part during the day I am positive but then again we all get a bad day once and a while. I would say that it is easier to feel happy because it is desired.

It's easier to feel depressed if you don't make an effort to be happy. It can be a quick downward sprial that's hard to get out of if you let it go to long. Be happy and take time to see the good in life.

It's "easier" to feel happy. Stress is never easy. Our society is predisposed to depression,by it's culture. We have more focus on the glass being half empty, and less on gratitude. Then, there are other stressors that create the opportunity for depression. We combat dis-ease on many fronts, and several planes. If not taught how to pick and win these battles. then the war is eventually lost as our energy to fend of attack dwindles, ane we are worn down.

Happy! Personal experience? I've been working my buns off lately. And with genetics as they are, I can't afford too much more of that! But after a long difficult week, I get home and see e-mails, IM's and questions from my favorite people. Instant smiley face! I think that depression would stem from a loss of this correspondence. As it stands, I get to sit here (great pun), smile and type as I think of a neat person on the other end. Wondering what they did today, if they got their quota of happy faces.

I feel so Lucky to be able to answer this incredible question. Sometimes it does seem so easy to feel depressed, but actually your body chemistry, skeletal system, nervous system, etc., overall is working on overdrive over-time.... Just like the factoid that we all have been told time and time again: It takes more muscles to frown than to smile..... but it just seems the opposite when we are in a down mood. The better thing to do is smile anyway and look up while you are!

Personally, it's easier to fall into a slump and feel depressed. It's always come natural to me, but I really have to work hard on being happy.
