I have a cut on my foot from stepping on glass last weekend.

I've had a tetanus shot, so I'm ok there and the cut was cleaned out with peroxide and bandaged, but it's red all around it now and itches and when I put peroxide on it it fizzes.

Do you think I should just keep cleaning it with the peroxide, or is it time to see a doctor?

Stop using the peroxide, it is corrosive to your skin and the cut. Use a triple antibiotic ointment instead. Would probably be a good idea to go see a doctor.

Unless it is a deep cut that needs stitches you will be fine. Some redness around the cut is normal, the itching is because it is healing. Put a triple antibiotic ointment and a bandage on it at night. Let it get some air during the day. You should be fine in 5 or 6 days.

Peroxide fizzes when the wound is infected. That means it's working. Keep doing it as often as possible, and if it doesn't clear up in a couple days, see the Doc. Also, when possible, leave the bandage off. You need some air in there. This is from lots of experience♥

Try the peroxide for a couple more days.. when peroxide fizzes it means it is infected and cleaning the icky stuff out.. if you see a red line going up your foot or leg get to a doctor because the infection has entered your blood stream..

My ole Grandiddy, rest his soul, would look at me and say "Aww c'mon ye little candyarse, git tuff or u never gone git to be a rodeo clown". But since ye are a gal, I would say some antibiotic ointment and continue to peroxide it. The itching indicates healing, but infection can get started really fast. Keep an eye on it and use your best judgement.

Hon, by pouring peroxide on it, you are damaging cells. Try soaking it in Epsom Salt and Warm Water for a while. Then put Triple Antibiotic Ointment on it and bandage. It should start healing faster.
We do this in our family. My daughter even takes Epsom Salt Baths.
Epsom salt is good for a laxative also, and fertilizing plants.........

Screw Rico.

I would just keep cleaning it. If it starts getting pussy, you might want to see a doctor. Try using some Neosporin on the bandage too. Good Luck!

Stop putting peroxide on it. Peroxide is WAY too strong and kills not only bad bacteria, but the GOOD bacteria in your body that naturally works to heal. Leave it alone and you will be fine.

Just keep it clean and keep putting peroxide on it. Seems to me it is getting well.If it gets red, puffy, and it throbs, then it is time to go to the Doc.
