you must be on crack because leinhart had the best rookie quaterback season this year he out threw young by over 400 yrds and as for jamarcus russel taking the raiders to the playoffs no way in hell one man doesn't change the fact that they are a terrible team

How many quarterbacks ever have good rookie seasons? Ben Rothlisberger and Rick Mirer? Because they land on teams with talent around them. The Raiders will be slightly better this year but not enough to make JaMarcus look good.
I think Leinart is a bad comparison for Russell, but so is Vince Young. Russell to me is more like a Dante Culpepper: he's got that strong arm. He's got good feet but he's not going to tear up the league running the way Vick did or even VY did at the end of last year. I thinik he'll be like any rookie -- you'll see some things that make you think he's the qb of the future (heck, people have said that about Andrew Walter), but he'll be wildly inconsistent. The truth is he'll be out of the league in a few years without making much of a dent.

Well, the fact that he's on the Raiders team means he has nowhere to go but up. The same is true of Matt Leinart and the Cardinals as well. The Raiders, like the Cardinals, are more than a top-draft-pick QB away from returnng to the playoffs.

Russell taking the Raiders to the playoffs? No way. They have to many holes to fill on that team, especially on offense, and with a rookie QB starting they will struggle this year and come nowhere near the playoffs. Maybe 6-10 at best.

He won't take the raiders to the playoffs, but the Raiders are heading in the right direction with him as their QB. I can see the Raiders making the playoffs in two years. They have a solid and young defense. They have a franchise QB now, a future star in Bush at RB, and a talented group of receivers. They have built a great D through the draft, now its the offenses turn to be built through the draft.
The Raiders are headed in the right direction.

Are you saying Matt Lienart had a bad season? Well, he didn't. He's on a bad team, but showed some good flashes of the quarterback he was in college. Just because he didn't take a team to the playoffs when the team wasn't going anywhere before him doesn't mean anything. Russell will have a chance to end up decent, but they won't make the playoffs strictly because of o-line issues.

you all saw what vince young did last year when he came into his own.. he was amazing, but in my personal opinion I dont think that MIcheal Vick, Vince Young, Jemarcus Russel or any other quarterback that fits into that mold will ever win the superbowl due to the inconsistencies in their style of play.. when your main goal as a quarterback is to pass the ball and these quarterbacks whom, some not all are almost better rushers than passers i dont know how you ever make your team a superbowl contender.. obviously I am a bit of a traditionalist.. but these are my thoughts. being a mobile quarterback is always a plus but you cannot rely on that mobility when you play teams with a fast and aggressive style of defense. i say J. R. will go 8-8 at the best if the raiders can keep there defense where it was last season.. they will not go to the playoffs.

He will end up like Matt Leinart, which isn't bad b/c Matt got to learn the game before being forced to play too early...The Raiders will start the season with Josh McCown, and then in the middle of the season, bring JaMarcus in, this is a rebuilding season, thats why they brought in Lane Kiffen, not to win a Super Bowl this year, but to rebuild for the future, and JaMarcus was the missing puzzel piece....Matt Leinart will have a great future too with that explosive Cardinal offense, with a little help of their O-Line, they will be awesome.

Raiders to the playoffs.........NO....in fact...that's insane
and did Leinart actually have a bad season?....NO
I have said all along that Russel will be a big dissapointment.
The good news though....he can thow 60 yards from his butt which is what he'll need to do with that o-line.

Are you serious? All because they don't get to the playoffs doesn't mean they're busts. C'mon, Carson Palmer finished 8-8 and he got to the Probowl, but his team didn't get to the playoffs. So Matt Leinart is good and J.R. will probably be great to.
