I am in the process of selling my leasehold flat (in London) and the buyer's solicitor informs me my property has a contravention against building reg bc 99/00834. Does anyone have the slightest idea what this is about?

It's a new build so I presume it stems from when the property was built.

I will call the council tomorrow (who want £50 for the enquiry) - but I wondered if anyone knew what that code meant, and what reg had been broken

99/00834 is probably the Building Control Ref number which is held at the planning department of your local authority office.

Sounds like the property hasn't got approval for something although it may be perfectly fine and simply need signing off.

If you are selling it and have done work to it, did anything need building regs approval? If you've done nothing why didn't your solicitor pick it up when you bought?

one of the owners before you did something to the property which contravened building regs ..check with building control and they will tell you what it was
