Planting by the phase of the moon used to help ancient man because they had no other good calendar to help them gauge when they were safely past frosts that might kill their crops. But there's nothing mystical about it, and anyone who tells you this is just superstitious.

Only ancient people used the moon to tell what time of year it was. Today, we can just use a calendar to figure out if a tulip can grow in the winter or something.
