For a song, there are the lyrics and the music, which as far as I know, are recorded separately sometimes. Usually, only the music is used for karaoke. So, if I'd like to hear a popular song, but without it's lyrics, how do I call it? Demo, negative, or what?

look for what is referd to as a performance trac, however, not all performance tracks are equal. Some are released from the original artist and they are usually the best representation of what you will hear on the radio. Some are just synth recordings and drum effects. average cots per trac is $7.99 to $10.99, most contain the original recording of the song (demonstration trac) and several versions of the performance track in different keys (high, med and low vocal ranges). used for kareoke, or as I do at church for special music offerings.
