"Pro-Gay" means that you support gay rights, and you don't have to be gay to be pro-gay. It's like anything else that you support. It means that you will go the extra mile for a person when you see them persecuted for their beliefs. From the sound of your answer, you are pro-gay (tolerant, believe in free choice).

Just remember, whenever you hear someone ask if you are "pro" something, it merely means if you are "for it" and not against it. So, pro-gay means that you are "for the gays." It has nothing to do with ones own sexuality, but merely supportive of those particular rights. Another example would be "pro-choice" which merely means that you are for women being able to choose to have an abortion or not.

Pro-choice means the ability to make the choice. If someone doesn't think it's right, fine, don't do it. But I can't fathom how some can tell others they can't do it either. Just because some think it's wrong and it's murder, doesn't mean others think the same way, and people have to realize that before they veto "abortion rights" bills. The one thing I can't stand in politicians is when they let their religious and moral views get in the way of their leadership and decision making.

You do not have to be gay to be "pro-gay". There are church groups that are pro-gay. They participate in the Gay Pride parades. All we ask for is tolerance, that's what God wants. Gays have been around since before the biblical times, but the only difference is, we do not get executed for our lifestyles. Don't get me wrong, but gays and lesbians have been murdered because of their lifestyle. And thank you for being pro-gay because other people (like religious groups) shunned us because they are blind, and they were not taught the right way to be tolerant.

RE:
What does it mean to be "pro-gay?"?
I see this expression getting tossed around a lot, but I'm not sure what it means. Do you have to be gay to be pro-gay? I'm straight and I have no desire to be in a same-sex relationship, but I have no problem with other people having same-sex relationships if that is their choice. Does...

Sorry, I haven't time to read your whole spiel. But indeed some (note 'some') women given the legal right to make the choice will indeed choose to to have an abortion and thus cause the death of a foetus, if the pregnancy or the idea of having to bring up a child is unwelcome to them. On the other hand the 'pro-lifers' force girls who have been raped to carry the resulting baby. Both situations are unwelcome and only your personal ethics can resolve your personal position.

Paid for being Gay! That's pretty good. Now, if they'd just pay ME for being Gay. Wait a minute... I've published a lot of news stories and photos in Gay magazines, so... I guess I HAVE been paid for being Gay!!!
Actually, you are tolerant, but I suppose pro Gay means any person who is okay with the idea of Gay people. At least you're not anti-Gay.

Pro gay means that you believe they should have the same rights as straight couples:
The right to get married
The right to be added to each other health insurance policies
the right to decide for each other in case of a hospital emergency
The right to adopt
etc.
Marriage is not only about the sanctity of an union, but a lot more. a Pro-gay person understands this and feels that gay should be allowed the same rights.

pro- is a prefix which means supporting or approving of something, so pro-gay means approving or supporting homosexuals as they answered before.
you are a pro-gay person and it's nearly the same as being tolerant.. don't worry you don't have to be gay and certainly you are not.
