I can peel the paint off and it feels sticky. You could roll it up into a ball and it can stick.

Sounds like they used a latex paint but did not properly prepare the surface. You will need to strip, clean, prime and repaint to do the job properly. When you consider that most paints are good for two years by their own warranty, you got your money's worth.

Oooo- a shingle house. Nice. These shingles are extremely expensive if you ever tried to replace them, so what you want to do is spray some oil on them to keep them from drying out. If you ask at the oil yard, there's a product called "Shingle and Floor Oil" - sold in 5 gallon buckets. It's a mild light oil to spray on this sort of material. It turns them nicely black at first as the oil is drawn into them. And it will make these things last for 1000 years. Something to think about however.... it can be that your fire insurance company won't like your shingles. They're quite flammable - and then the oil makes them more flammable. So keep that in mind. Generally nobody ever says anything about this. But I do know it's hard (or impossible) to get insurance on a house where the walls are covered with those old tar shingles (fake bricks).

unless it was a custom built house and you didnt mind paying for better quality materials then 6 years is pretty good for a builders grade paint.. if its like 90% of subdivision houses built they use a decent paint...not a good paint a decent one.. and more than likely sprayed which over the long haul is not as good of a paint job.. but 6 years is a pretty good lifespan for a paintjob... go buy a good paint and hope you get 6 more years out of it.. also different regions will make lifespans of paint better or worse

It sounds to me like , a new paint job maybe in order . And then you can paint your house the right way and the way that you want your house to look.

That means that they used a poor quality of paint more than likely. You will need to repaint.

I would attempt to scrape or sand all the paint off, then repaint it. I don't think there's anything you can do to fix it at this point.
