It would depend on the circumstances.
If I were to leave someone for fear of them leaving me, it would be easier to handle in a way because I would be making that decision.
However, if I were to leave someone because I had to, it would be no easier than if they left me.
Also, I suppose, it would depend on who you are and what you're soft points are. Some people would prefer to be left than to leave and vice versa.
My opinion, though, it's a 50/50 thing based on the why.

I think it is because last year when I had to get away from everyone including my ex I felt at peace, but I know that when someome you care and love for leaves it's harder because you're always wondering what they're doing and if their lives are better off without you.
