If she is writing you on yahoo mail ...

Go to Options > General Preferences > Messages > Headers.
Mark "Show all headers on incoming messages" and save.
Go to the mail and find "X-Originating-IP" note that there might be more than one since some email services bounce the mail around. (The IP could also be withing the "Received:" post and then it's within [ . ] <- those things.) The last IP in the message should be the right one.
The go to an IP address locater and put the IP through it. (Try this: http://ip-adress.com/ )

It doesn't always work, it depends on what email service they use. Some services hides the originating IP and only shows their company IP's. You need to be careful so that you don't mix the company IP with the senders IP.

And what if she was as scammer from Africa? no there really isnt a way you are going to be able to tell where she is at, especially if its web based mail.

As a general policy, stick with what you already know.. asking for money is a big red flag. I would proceed very cautiously if at all.

it is only possible if you are using a msn messanger or other IM chatting program. email cannot really tell you. because the email that she send (even though she may really be in africa) still goes thru the US servers or whatever email servers she using. Unless she uses a ".co.za" email... then most likely she is telling the truth.

It is technically possible but not feasible....... unless you got some friend working in yahoo or u r a federal agent. such details are confidential.
Moreover if the girl is a fraud, she would be surfing anonymously using a proxy site which cant be tracked.
my advise--> just mind ur own business unless u know her well
Good luck
